Becoming a mom has made me even more grateful for my own mom. As I experience wonderful and challenging moments with my own daughter, I am often reminded about the relationship I have with my own mom. I wonder how she felt when I was going through challenges or seeing me grow up so fast! It has also made me love my mom more than ever before, now that I know how tough it is to be a parent.
Mother’s Day is the perfect time to reflect on all of the reasons we are grateful for our moms. This poem reflects not only my gratitude for my own mom, it also reflects our collective gratitude for our moms across the globe.

For My Mom on Mother’s Day For all of the times you hugged me and promised me that things would turn out, I am grateful.
For the times when they didn’t and you helped me to heal, I am grateful.
For being my cheerleader when no one else was, I am grateful.
For carrying me in your womb safely til I was ready to be born, I am grateful.
For allowing me to fail and learn from my mistakes, I am grateful.
For all of the times I was hurt and you prayed to take away my pain, I am grateful.
For allowing me to leave home and spread my wings, I am grateful.
For your unconditional support, both emotionally and financially, I am grateful.
For your protection and love when others hurt me, I am grateful.
For teaching me how to fuel my body and take care of my health, I am grateful.
For giving me a moral compass that always remains true, I am grateful.
For allowing me to find my faith when I was ready, I am grateful.
For your undivided attention and gift of your time, I am grateful.
For supporting me in whichever career path I choose, I am grateful.
For your unconditional love of my father, I am grateful.
For showing me how incredible our world is through your travels, I am grateful.
For teaching me how to love my family and my siblings, I am grateful.
For holding my hand whenever I need you to, I am grateful. For your never ending love. I am grateful.
